Lieve Gabriel

ARTIST

Lieve Gabriel is an artist from London, England. Her work stems from a profound desire to explore the dynamics of the human condition; asking the eternal questions which remain unanswered from the beginning of time. Who are we? What's the purpose of life if in the end we're all going to die? Why are we the way we are? What's evil, where does it come from? Is this life real, or just a simulation? What we see and feel, do truly exist? What's the afterlife? Are we already living it?

Lieve strives to discover, unveil and join the missing pieces of the puzzle of life, death and rebirth; as well as to dive deeper and deeper into the mysteries of creation, and the supernal forces above that govern its mechanism.

Through her work she endeavours to document this process of research, which she carries out via a deep introspective work, as well as an external one. This struggle to identify the true essence of humanity can be witnessed in her deeply emotional, somewhat troubled abstract figurative work, in which she allows emotions, feelings, fears and suffering to materialise and take form and shape. Thus her figures are born from an internal pathos, as well as from the heavy burden we all bear for the evil that we allow to fester and to control our lives.

Her abstract work, instead, embraces the powerful forces of creation and its mysteries. She's drawn to Nature's emotional outbursts: thunderstorms, rain, the wind and all its troubled beauty, which she strives to capture and immortalise into her paintings.

"The concepts of Aisthesis can be many; they can be as many as you want, really. The meaning of beauty is very vast and cannot be contained in a tight box. Hence why Aisthesis can have as many faces as you wish. Transforming beauty does not wither its Essence; beauty is everlasting if it comes from a place within: there,...

Inhuman

"With this new collection called 'Inhuman' I want to dive deeper into the human condition - focusing on the dark side of humanity in particular. But why? What is this fascination with something that unveils the truth buried within tormented souls? Hence are all human beings tormented souls in search for atonement and the light? Can we sail through...
